A group I recently discovered from my iTunes Radio station has become my new obsession. I just discovered them this past week, but I'm already obsessed. So, of course, I get their CD!
When I went into the Target CD section, I just about freaked when I saw the "Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die" album by Panic! At the Disco. I've heard their music before, like "I Write Sins Not Tragedies", but that was quite a while ago. When I heard "This is Gospel" and the newest single "Hallelujah" on my iTunes station while knitting, I knew I had to look further into this group.
Since getting the disc, I've listened to it on repeat all I can. Every time I get a new album, I listen to it on repeat forever; pretty much until I get my next new album, then I listen to it still quite often. When I do listen to my iPod on shuffle, I usually now skip around until a Panic! At the Disco song comes on. Their newest single "Hallelujah" is amazing. I listened to the live performance from the Shorty Awards and I though it sounded amazing. Brendon Urie, the singer of P!ATD, was just so enthusiastic as he sang and hopped around on stage, it was great. You know a band is great when they sound just as good live as they do on a CD. A few of the songs on "Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die" sound sorta like the group Depeche Mode from the 80s. Whilst cleaning the kitchen, I had my new disc playing and either "Girl That You Love" or "Collar Full" came on. My mom was listening and said that it sounded like Depeche Mode, which is a group she likes and has a disc of. I like a few Depeche Mode songs, and honestly a few of P!ATD songs do sound similar to that of Depeche Mode.
I also created an iTunes station of P!ATD and discovered the group twenty one pilots. I've listened to several twenty one pilots songs, and I absolutely love the style of their music. The way the singer of twenty one pilots sings/raps is so unique, and the same goes with Brendon Urie's voice. Both groups are great and I love listening to their playlists mixed together. And on my new iTunes station, a few My Chemical Romance songs popped up. Really, the few songs I like by them are "Teenagers" and "Mama", then there is one other but I'm not really sure how it goes exactly. The only song I had heard by them previously was, of course, "Welcome to the Black Parade", which I like well enough. I love discovering new groups and widening my musical taste. The music I listen to is always varying and changing, but I still listen to all my older CDs. Next on my list for discs to obtain is either another Panic! At the Disco album or one from twenty one pilots.
That's my current obsession. If you guys know of any of the mentioned groups, feel free to drop your favorite song by them so I can check it out. Or, comment a group that you love and I'll be sure to give them a listen. Thank you for reading!
