CLEARLY Hesitant Alien

"Wow, great pun Elyse! Never would've thought of that myself!" -said No One.
impossible to capture it's true beauty
All puns aside, I was not hesitant with this purchase (ha, *sigh*). Really though, I absolutely adore this album and artist. But here's a little story of my online adventure. So I did some research, and finally found a Gerard Way CLEAR Hesitant Alien record for a reasonable price (with taxes and shipping, 'twas only $32 in comparison to similar products, for upwards of $70!). Talked to my mom, and she ordered it online for me while I paid her the cash. Normal exchange, right? I was sadly mistaken. For, on the day I received the package that my little emo soul was looking forward to, I ended up screaming out of frustration and quite literally so. Upon opening and unveiling my personal gift to myself, I discovered it was the WRONG RECORD. Like I said, I screamed for a good five minutes. I shoved the darn thing behind every record I owned and couldn't stand to look at it. I had ordered a CLEAR vinyl, but received a normal BLACK record of the same album. I should've known better though, the sticker on the record I received wasn't the same as the one on the picture of the one I ordered. I thought I was out another forty bucks, because the only other clear records of Hesitant Alien were $70. I was so upset I played the black record but once. After getting a hold of the seller, to my surprise, we were able to work the whole thing out. He messaged, saying that he had sent the wrong record (really?) and that he would send me the correct one. AND I get to keep the black one. So, now I have two. Moral of the story: start out nice to people if they mess up, often times they will be willing to fix their mistakes, but not if you act sourly.
I got my clear record this past Saturday, and I love it so much. Clear vinyl is just so pretty. Seriously, I don't know why there aren't more like it. I know Vessel by twenty one pilots is a clear vinyl, and I'd love to own that one as well. Not only is the record a beauty, the album is quite the piece of work. I love this album and listen to it all the time. This album gives me nostalgia for something I can't even place, and it's lovely. The records came with a digital download, so I can listen to it via my iPod while out+about, and in the comfort of my home.

Here are a few of my favorite songs (even though, honestly, all the songs are my favorite songs), with a lil description included.
  • Brother~ I don't know what it is about this song, but is just sounds so sweet, like, idk, but Gerard sounds so sincere when singing it; opens with piano and ends with me feeling pumped, but in a nice way
  • Drugstore Perfume~ the sounds are weird, I'm not really sure what it is, but it's unique and I love it
  • How It's Going to Be~ there's like a lil synth solo, and it's so cute
  • Maya the Phychic~ the way he sounds it nice, and so is the song in general
"Wow, these descriptions are great! They definetly made me interested enough to check this album out! 10 out of 10!" -said no one!

It's Not A Pegasus

Soo with my first paycheck my first purchase was obviously one of great magnitude: a pair of unicorn Converse. Not Pegasus shoes, as often mistaken to be. They are a slick material, some kind of satin fabric or a similar textured textile, and are amazing.  I literally love these. How could a unicorn lover as myself continue to live without such an amazing piece of wearable art? Not only are they satisfying to look at, these tootsie shells match with most outfits. These are the most Elyse shoes I've ever seen.
I actually got these awhile ago, but I keep on forgetting to finish up this post. But, soon after purchasing, they were no longer available. Right in time. I don't honestly know what I'd do had I waited even a week. I wouldn't have been able to get them. To begin with, these lovelies were only sold at Journey's and Journey's online store. Not even converse.com sold them. But, all that matters is that I have them now.

Neutral Milk Hotel

Out of the ordinary, we have Neutral Milk Hotel. Their songs Holland 1945 and In the Aeroplane Over the Sea snagged me, and I ended up loving the whole album. Both songs, and the whole album honestly, are so strange. This album is form the late 90s, so it was quite the find for me to stumble upon. Like most groups I find, I heard them on my Bastille iTunes radio station ages ago. Even though it so weird, I really love the sound of this type of music, whatever 'type' it is. The subject matter is up to individual interpretation (at least that's how I take the majority of the songs) and the sounds are so smooth and chill. The singer's voice isn't what is generally 'good sounding', but I love the way all the weirdness of the music fits together. Neutral Milk Hotel definitely isn't everyone's cup of tea, but it's worth a listen.
I've somewhat learned a few of the songs off of the album on ukulele, so that's pretty great.

Like in the last vinyl post (and every upcoming record post) here is a quick list of songs that I like with a quick lil description. The album is called "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea".
  • Holland 1945~ DRUMS, trumpets, and really nice vocals; probably one of the least weird songs
  • Two-Headed Boy~ I really love his voice in this song but some parts are loud, guitarrrr
  • In the Aeroplane Over the Sea~ first song I've heard by them, and I still love it alot; again, not really weird (in relativity to the album)

Blurryface LP with that CD

Previously I made a post about my love of twenty one pilots' newest album, Blurryface, expressing my deep want of owning the physical disc. Now, here I am, with both the Blurryface CD and LP. This will be a two-in-one post, I've the record to talk about and the CD (which I've been meaning to post about for a long while, boy I need to get on top of things).

Though I am jealous of the half red and black vinyl, I absolutely love the all black one I have. Actually, there are two records to fit the whole album. I was able to find this vinyl in store in a mall; I about flipped my lid. I love the order in which the songs are, they just flow together like a story. What I especially love is that the very last song is Goner, which ends with such a haunting beauty. The sound of vinyl is different than digital, in a good way. All the songs have, like, a strange twinge; I'm not really sure how to describe it. In Polarize there is a whole background piano part I'd never really paid attention to, but hearing it on vinyl really brings it out. The two ukulele based songs, The Judge and We Don't Believe What's on TV, sound almost live, it's wonderful. Ukulele has a unique sound that I love, and hearing those two songs from a record allows me to enjoy it even more. Even though what vinyl I have isn't as fancy, it still sounds amazing.

Not to forget my CD, which I had to order online. When the CD came out, I looked store to store, and yet it wasn't there. Then, when they finally had it in stock, holding it in my hand, I decided not to get it. What version they had at Target was too basic. It was just a jewel case, not the fancy, pretty, sleeved one. So, of course, I ended up ordering the stinkin' disc online via the twenty one pilots webstore. I'm glad I did though. It's so fancy and lovely.

Great additions to both of my collections.

My Favorite Songs on Blurryface:
  • The Judge~ sick ukulele (which I've learned to play ye) and a crazy vocal range
  • Heavydirtysoul~ sweet rap skillz, music sounds all over the place, legit lyrics
  • Not Today~ snazzy bass riffs, a contradiction, sweet little sounds
Honestly I love the whole album, but these are the ones I'd recommend (with a little description) to someone entering into the world of twenty one pilots.
The circles are just little windows in the cover, and the designs are on a little sheet that are in the sleeve of the cover. The basic version I found at Target didn't hold such treasures. (this is the circle designs from the vinyl cover, but the CD holds the same thing.)

Below is the same thing only without the red and black slip over it.
