Imagining Some Dragons

Yes!!! Ever since I saw a FaceBook post about their newest album, I have been scouring the CD section of Walmart and Target alike, but it was all in vain. My mom said to just go online, but I'm not a fan of online shopping. Turns out, the CD was released just yesterday, so today I scurried to Target and purchased my very own copy. Finally, I have the newest Imagine Dragons album in my possession!! It is the newest addition to my digital disc collection, that I am so very proud of. Not only do I own Smoke+Mirrors on CD, I also have Night Visions by Imagine Dragons. I known almost every word to every song on that disc. Hopefully this collection of songs will be just as lovely to listen to. So far the only song I  know on this CD is I Bet My Life, but I think that the rest will stick to me just like in the first album. I don't know why, but I find much of Imagine Dragon's music to be not necessarily soothing, but easy to listen to? I don't know what exactly, but if I just need to listen to something, I definitely put Night Visions on shuffle. Their vocals are just amazing and so easy to sing along to.
Of course, as I have said many times in my past music-related posts (The Poet's Laughter Lines, What to Listen To: CD Spree ), not every artist I like will be liked by everybody. Every person is allowed their own opinion, and I am allowed mine. But, I really recommend Imagine Dragons as a group and their disc Night Visions. Smoke+Mirrors seems to be a bit more... alternative, for lack of better term. It's not like they completely changed their style, but it is just a bit different. But that's okay! Well, if any of you have this album, drop your opinion about it in the comments below and let me know your favorite song/s.

Peculiar Books, and Possible Movie

If you hadn't heard it from the many other sources of books or from social media, the third book to the Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children series is on its way to store shelves. Recently, author Ransom Riggs announced that he has been working on it and released an excerpt (you can view here, from Entertainment Weekly) to the new book.
I read the first two novels to the Peculiar Children series sometime early last year. My mom bought a used version of the first one (hardcover, yes) and loved it. Once I read it, I just couldn't wait for 'Hollow City'. When the second one came out, she bought it fresh from the stores (again hardcover) and I made her finish it quickly so I could read it as well. I've read several poor reviews of the books, but I have to say I was in love with the peculiar children and found little to complain about with the books. Of course, I have my two-cents about the books, but nothing major enough to cause a disliking for the series. Overall, I was very impressed and am super escited for the next installment for the Peculiar Children.
The series of peculiar children started with the first novel 'Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children', which was written by Riggs in about 10 months. In short, the book is about teen Jacob going of to an island off the coast of Wales after his family suffered a loss (which I will NOT go into depth about; you must find out for yourself!). While exploring, Jacob comes across an abandoned, bomb-exploded home for children, seemingly empty. But, upon further discovery, it isn't. A time-loops is what keeps the children alive and well in their adored home.Parts of this book tripped me up and I had to go back and re-read to figure out what just happened, especially this part. Oh, and there are these strange creatures that kill, and only Jacob can see them, a skill passed down to him from his grandfather. This skill makes Jacob a 'peculiar child'. To add to the strangeness of the book, vintage photos are spread throughout the book and really set the mood. After ending in a cliff hanger, it took another two years and a half for readers to find out what happened next in the second book 'Hollow City'. Now, Jacob and his friends are stuck in a time-loop in London. Okay, read the books to find out more. I hope that was enough to get you interested :P :)
With the ending of 'Hollow City', readers have been itching for the third book. Upon being asked how long it would take for the third book to come out, Ransom Riggs responded with, "It won't be two years this time."(Hickam). Thankfully, the book, 'Library of Souls', is set to be released September 2015 (that's this year!!). Before I get the third one though, I'll have to re-read the first two, but I guess I'll have time between now and September.
Along with the release of 'Library of Souls', there is a possible Peculiar movie. Rumors have been floating around that Tim Burton will be directing it, which is a good sign. I think that is a lovely idea; these books feel very Tim Burton-ish to me and I think he will do them justice. If it happens. According to an Entertainment Weekly article, the movie is "set for March 2016"(Holub). Whether that means it is set for theatres in March or set for filming is unknown to me. Eva Green and Asa Butterfield are to star is this movie. I don't know who they are, but I'm just providing information about the movie at this point.

Anti-Social

Details about the look:
"anti social" tee~ Elyse Jean
skull socks~ Walmart brand
grey checkered pants~ So
mint high tops~ Converse All-Stars
Teen Vogue Magazine

"Oh man, where can I find such a cute shirt that speaks to me??" "What is this brand, 'Elyse Jean'?"
Those are many questions I am going to answer in this here post. First of all, this is a one-of-a-kind piece that can only be found in my closet. It was a pain to make, but worth it. Second, this brand 'Elyse Jean' is non-existent at this point except in my wildest dreams. Oh, and I put the magazine because it has featured the eye makeup I think would go well with this outfit.

I got these pants on sale at Kohl's, but I was worried I would have nothing to wear with them. I had also purchased this plain-white tee at the same time. I wanted to buy, like, ten of the shirts so I could experiment with different designs, but I'm gonna go back later when my coupons are usable (yup, I'm a coupon-izer). Upon returning home, I found some iron-on letters I've had for a while and an idea popped in my head. I started brainstorming some quotes and phrases to put on this shirt. I even had created a web diagram of music quotes I loved; many of which were too long for this shirt and letters. I'm gonna use my favorite quote 'Delicate and wild' from a Red Hot Chili Peppers song when I a) get another shirt and b) get smaller and more letters. Anyhow, I finally picked a phrase that wasn't even part of my elaborate diagram, something that I saw similar on Pinterest. After figuring it out, the actual making was a trouble. The letters weren't cooperating and that's when I felt the truth in the saying "words can hurt you". In this case, the hurt was emotional and caused many units of frustration. Even after forever trying to get the letters to look good, I ended up just tearing the last few letters off. They were the A, N, and I; the ones with the most glitter lol! Which leads me to my next explanation: the glitter. So, I had planned on the letters going on without a problem, but of course that didn't happen. Much of the A, N, and I didn't stick to the shirt, so I had to fill it in somehow. I was going to originally just paint it in black, but that would look junky. Glitter was my alternative. I used glitter to fill in the gaps. Then, the letters didn't look distinguished enough, so I got my black paint and outlined the letters as well. Still didn't look as good as it would if the letters would've just worked, but hey, gotta compromise. And glitter is a good fixer. Sorta like the duct tape of the fashion world. Though sometimes it can be a big no-no.
This post has gotten too long! Sorry about that! Okay, just leave a comment on how you think the shirt turned out and if you would like to see more of my work!!
