Just LOVIN' the light blue!
For a DIY project, I got this gargeous light blue chalky-finish paint. I'm not gonna post a pic of it my project quite yet, 'cause I'm not done, but don't worry! There will be a post of it once I am finished 100%!! My project, as you may be wondering, is a little desk for my sewing machine. I got it from a thrift shop, and grabbed a chair while I was at it. The desk was originally all the same color- a weird, dark, navy-ish blue; with the exception of the drawer knobs. To me, it was just WAY too much of that weird blue, so I set myself up with a nice DIY project!
I started by spray painting the lame black drawer knobs a light pinkie purple (I also sprayed a Coke a Cola bottle the same, which is now a flower vase). But, that wasn't enough. Of course, it looked good, but I wanted a bit more color. I'm planning on painting the desk top with paint that acts as a chalk board, but I need to do some more research on using that kinda paint. The next step to beautification of my desk was the drawers. There are three of 'em, and having them the same boring color just wasn't gonna work. I knew I wanted them to be a different color, but what?
A blog gave me an idea. I was online doing some chalk-paint research, and this link popped up. Instead of chalk board paint it was chalky finish paint, and I loved it. I had seen the paint before at Micheal's, but now I felt that I should and could do it. I grabbed some of the blue paint and headed on my way. I was so excited to see it on my desk, that I had planned on painting today. But, alas, it was so hot out I didn't want to risk messing up the paint job. Next best thing is to look on Pintrest for cool ideas. Since the chair I scored at the thrift shop had a vine design (it is quite gargeous, may I add), I decided that I wanted to do a vine stencil thing on the drawers. Once I draw the stencil and cut it out, all I have to do is place & paint!
If you couldn't tell, I'm uber excited to get started painting my desk! I'll be posting a picture of it once I am finished, and hope you guys will enjoy!! I might be doing it as a DIY video, you never know...
