Research and a Refreshing Beverage

I honestly think I'm addicted to Coke-a-Cola...
Like I said in my older post, Fashion Designing, I've really been looking into a future fashion career. Of late, I have been doing some heavy duty (more or less) research on things that one would need to learn for a real , money-earning fashion career. When I do research, I don't surf Facebook and forget what I'm doing. No, I full out get in my research mode: I settle down in a soft chair, have a clean notebook ready, get a sharpened pencil in my hand, grab a yummy ice-cold drink, and a side snack (watermelon!). Sometimes, if I really am getting into the zone, I won't even eat lunch because I don't want to loose the moment. Yeah, this is how it is for every school project ever. Which would make this my nightly schedule during the school year. Yeah, I'm not too social. I find information about textiles more interesting than what drama is going on with the pop'lars (popular kids, or pretty much any thing that includes people I know; sad, right?).
XD

Above, I have the notebook in which I will be recording all of my information. So far, it's actually been pretty hard! Finding the information is extremely difficult, because you're supposed to learn all of this stuff in college for fashion design. Almost every link I've clicked on has been for books to buy or online classes to join or even college campuses that offer that subject. What I have found, though, has been stuff like what is important to know. The actual stuff to know is the stuff I can't find!! An important aspect of designing fashion is knowing your textiles (fabrics used), but I can't find much raw info on it :( Color coordination is another important subject one needs to have a clue about when designing fashion. I found an amazing site that has almost everything to know about mixing colors well. And, it has a whole section on how to use the color wheel. Just amazing. I've found other sites that tell you how to become a successful fashion designer, but I haven't really found any of the real information I need. It's kinda frustrating not being able to easily find the information I want, but hey, try until you succeed.

Here is a list of the things that I need to research:

  • color coordination (very important!)
  • the industry: how the business works
  • trending fashion
  • sewing skillz
  • ways to advertise
  • costumer wants
  • textiles (very important!)
If you guys know any sites that could help, let me know in the comments!! Really, I could use all the the help I can get!
